Set up File Sharing on a Mac

First of all, you need to set some of the settings if you want to share files between a Mac and an Android Device. The 1st step is allowing your Mac to share its files, and you can follow these steps to do so –

  1. You need to click on the company’s icon present at the upper left corner of your screen.
  2. Then tap on ‘System Preferences’ and select the ‘Sharing’ option.
  3. Browse through the left panel, and mark the checkbox next to the ‘File Sharing’ option.
  4. Select the ‘Options’ button and a new window should open up on your screen.
  5. Search for ‘Share folders and file using SMB’ as you need to mark the checkbox next to it.

  7. Next, you need to browse the list inside the ‘Android File Sharing’. Here, you will be required to mark the checkbox alongside each of the users whose files you want to share.
  8. Now, it will ask you to enter the passwords of the users. And your file transfer will be done after you click on ‘Done’.

After committing all the steps mentioned above, you will be back on the Sharing window; and now you need to select the users and the folders you are going to share with your Android. You can easily adjust your preferences after clicking on the Plus (+) & Minus (-) signs below ‘Shared Users’ and ‘Shared Folders’.

Remember to make a note of the IP Address of your Mac. Your Mac’s IP Address will be present below the ‘File Sharing: On’ message.
